Deputy Stage ManagerI trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) for two years on the Stage Management and Technical Theatre course.
Before training at LAMDA I worked front of house and backstage at The Cambridge Corn Exchange, my duties included dealing with customer enquiries, taking customers to there seats, and selling merchandise. Whilst working backstage at the Corn Exchange I took the role of a Dresser on many of the incoming tours, I really enjoyed this role as I got to meet new people all the time and there was a different challenge with each show. I also assisted with the get in's and out's of the shows.
Whilst studying my course at LAMDA, I undertook a number of Stage Management roles, such as ASM on the productions of: Otto Klump (a new musical), Pericles (staged in the round); DSM on graduation productions and Diary of a Madman (a new musical); SM on Blue Remembered Hills (toured to the Lake District) and Can Can (LAMDA's annual musical); Technical SM Breezeblock Park and Love Is (a new musical). I also was sound no1, where I got to design the sound and operate. I spent 6 weeks doing LX and got to operate a very busy show and follow spot LAMDA's annual musical.
